Your new role
1. Medicinal Chemistry Research: • Conduct structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to optimize the pharmacological properties of lead compounds. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate medicinal chemistry efforts with other scientific disciplines. 2. Intellectual Property Management: • Develop and implement strategies for protecting intellectual property related to drug discovery projects. • Conduct thorough literature and patent searches to ensure novelty and nonobviousness of compounds. • Draft and file patent applications, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Collaboration and Communication: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, pharmacologists, and computational chemists, to achieve project goals. • Communicate project updates, results, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
4. Regulatory Compliance: • Stay abreast of relevant regulatory guidelines and ensure that patent applications align with regulatory requirements. • Work closely with legal and regulatory affairs teams to address any issues related to patent prosecution.
5. Documentation and Record Keeping: • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and intellectual property documentation.
What you'll need to succeed
• Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven experience in medicinal chemistry research with a focus on drug discovery.
• Demonstrated expertise in patent drafting, filing, and prosecution.
• Strong understanding of global intellectual property laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with relevant software and tools for patent searching and drafting.
